Mayors Month of Music!
Mayors Month of Music!
It's that time again! We are getting super excited for the Mayor’s Month of Music and we hope you are too! Grab your lawnchair, fill your cooler with your favorite beverages and snacks and come down to River Park Square for Mayor's Month of Music. This is a free event for everyone, we want you to bring as many people as you can.
You are more than welcome to purchase concessions at River Park Square from the Mayor’s Youth Council or grab some food from your favorite Downtown Restaurant. We are also excited to have Firebrick Road Pizza and Chubby Buddies BBQ available at the Mayors Month of Music this year. Sally's By The Shore will be here with ice cream and we know that is always a fan-favorite!
The first one will take place on August 4th which is the PHS all school reunion! The Late Sixties, Psychedelic Music, Peace and Love. Do you remember the Woodstock era? It was a period of musical and creative energy that has never been equaled before or since! If you are too young to remember that magical time, you can now be transported back there instantly with the one and only “Magic Bus.” Come and take a psychedelic ride with us. Let Magic Bus re-create the atmosphere for you! Their incredible musical abilities and authentic look will transcend the modern and jet you back to the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco in 1967. It was a time of true Rock and Roll as it was meant to be. We would also like to say thank you to the sponsor of the evening...US Granules!
The next performance for the Mayors Month of Music will be August 10th with “Fascinating Rhythms!” Thank you to our sponsor for the evening...Lochmueller!
The third performance will be the Southern Straightaway on August 17th. We want to say a thank you to our sponsor for the evening...Miller's Senior Living Communities!
Of course you can miss the Out Of Favor Boys on August 24th! Originally conceived in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2003, the Out of Favor Boys have evolved into a blues staple in Southwest Michigan. The first Out of Favor Boys shows were at O’Duffy’s Pub, in the heart of Kalamazoo’s student ghetto, featuring Danny Ouellette, Joel Krauss and Tony Sproul. In the summer of 2003, the trio added a rhythm section, Tim Brouhard and Kevin Dorcy, and an organist, John Ford. Latethat year, the Out of Favor Boys won the KVBA blues challenge, winning the right to represent Kalamazoo at the 2004 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. Thank you to our sponsor for the evening...Zentis!
The final Mayors Month of Music performance will be August 31st with MGB. They are a local group that uses technology and talent to sound fuller than the average 4 piece band. You won't believe the sound that comes out those four!
All of these performances will be on Friday nights, starting at 7:00 PM at River Park Square! Food will always be available, but you’re also welcome to bring your own snacks to enjoy the night. We hope you take the time to relax and unwind with us for the Mayors Month of Music events throughout the month of August. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Mayors Office in Plymouth! Bring your friends, invite your families, spread the word!
