August is here and the heat is on!  You should be sure to hit up some of these places to “Cool Off” in Marshall County before you head back to school and work for the summer. Take some time to relax and unwind while laying out at the beach or hanging out off the side of your boat. There is nothing like some time on the lake, soaking up the sun before it’s too late.

Conveniently located within walking distance of the town park and many stylish shops, the Culver Beach is a favorite among both visitors and community members. This sandy shore is located right on the beautiful Lake Maxinkuckee and offers a gorgeous sunset view in evening hours. You can soak up some rays by swimming or simply relaxing on the sand. Daily admission for Culver Beach is $2.50 for ages 4-12, $3 for ages 13 and up. When you get hungry, walk right up to the Original Root Beer Stand or enjoy food from one of the small cafes or restaurants in downtown Culver.

One of Plymouth’s best kept secrets is Price Memorial Park, which is nestled on the north side of town. You can enjoy some swimming, playing on the playground, and building a sand castle; or bring your fishing poles for an adventure on the shore. Memberships are year-round and include discounted pavilion reservations and free parking during the Blueberry Festival. They offer memberships, but cost $2 per day to anyone coming in. They offer group and photographer’s memberships. So be sure to pack a picnic and experience the sun at Price Memorial Park this summer!

You can also check out the three public Splash Pads in Marshall County, free of charge, which are located at River Park Square in Downtown Plymouth, the Bourbon park, as well as the Argos community park. The little kids absolutely love to run around in the Splash Pads while the parents can can enjoy staying dry while sitting on the bench, soaking up the heat to watch their kid enjoy what is left of summer. Don’t wait, enjoy the Splash Pad while they are open.  

Other places to “cool off” in Marshall County include Lake of the Woods is located southwest of Bremen, and has boat ramp accessible on West Shore Drive, and Dixon Lake on the southwest side of Plymouth, completed with a boat ramp as well. Lawrence Lake is located 2.5 miles south of Plymouth on Olive Trail and offers an easily accessible boat ramp. Myers lake is a great place for fishing, located across the road from Lawrence Lake. On the northwest corner of Marshall County you will find Koontz Lake, which also has great boat access and the perfect spot to stop for a swim.

We cannot forgot to include the Dr. Susan Bardwell Aquatic Center located in Plymouth. This ten lane pool has two diving boards and host open swimming to the public. This aquatic center is also open for rentals for parties, meetings, etc.  Stop in today!
