Individuals who wish to be married in Marshall County must both appear in person to apply for a marriage license in the Clerk's Office, Marshall County Courthouse Annex, 211 West Madison St., Plymouth. The Clerk's office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please allow yourself at least thirty minutes to complete the application.

Applicants at least 18 years of age may marry without special consent. According to IC 31-11-2, persons who are 17 years old must apply for the license with both parents (or the person with legal custody) who must sign the consent portion of the application. If applicants are from out of state the marriage license may be purchased in Marshall County. If one or more of the applicants are residents of Indiana, the marriage license shall be obtained in the county where one or both of the applicants live.

One of the following items of identification is required for each individual- Valid operators license or other identification issued by state, containing date of birth and current address or passport, military identification, discharge papers or a transcript of school record. Applicants need to know their mother's maiden name and the states in which their parents were born. If previously married, the date of dissolution or death is needed. No blood tests or screening are required.

The fee for Indiana residents is $18.00. For residents of any other state the fee is $60.00. A marriage license expires sixty (60) days after it is issued and is valid only in the State of Indiana. For further information you may call the Clerk's Office at 574-936-8922.
