What's new at Blueberry this year?

We look forward to seeing you at the 51st Annual Blueberry Festival and we hope you enjoy being “Back Home Again in Marshall County.” With over 130 food booths, you better not leave without a full stomach. There are 450 craft booths and 125 commercial vendors, which we hope will make you smile with delight and walk away with some great deals! Blueberry is a weekend planned with several activities, including our famous “Firework Extravaganza,” Hot Air Balloons, the Annual Labor Day Parade and the Hoosier Old Wheels Car Show. The rides open later on Thursday evening and everything else is open from Friday till Monday morning/afternoon (September 1st through September 4th).

We hope that you see our board of directors around the festival, where you can thank them for all of their hard work! Keep your eyes out, you might just see your very own 2017 Miss Blueberry Festival Queen, Brianna Rose Andrews. She will be around all weekend, as she has already appeared in several parades, made appearances on the radio and on ABC57 News, promoting the Festival. She will be super busy this weekend, but I am sure she would love to talk to you. In a few months she will be representing us at the Indiana State Festival Association State Queen Pageant, which will be held in Indianapolis.

For the moment you have been waiting for, we are excited to announce what is new for 2017! The Blueberry Festival will now have the USS Indiana SSN 789, the K-9 Crew and the Horseshoe Pitch Off. The USS Indiana SSN 789 is the last ship named Indiana, which sailed 70 years ago during WWII. A ship named after the Great State of Indiana will represent all Hoosiers all over the world. The future USS Indiana will have the capability to attack targets ashore with highly accurate Tomahawk cruise missiles and conduct convert long term surveillance of land area, littoral waters or other sea-based forces. You will only be able to see this on Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at location 44 on the map!

The “K-9 Crew Trick Dog Show” is the ultimate high-energy canine thrill show, it features the husband and wife team of Tony & Sarah Hoard. They began this show in 2005 with only three canines and have grown since then to five full time performing canines. With over 10 years of experience, they offer the very best entertainment for that customized canine thrill show experience. This will take place Saturday, Sunday, & Monday at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM & 5:00PM all three days. This event is located at location 49 on the Festival Map!

The third and final new event for the 2017 Blueberry Festival is the Horseshoe Pitch Off. The Plymouth Horseshoe Club will be holding a horseshoe pitch off on Saturday, September 2nd. The entry fee is $2 for 50 shoes. There will be pitching demonstrations by Pros/Hall of Farmers from 9 AM to 4:00 PM located at location 40 on the Festival Map! We hope to see you out there and we are excited to add these fun events into our 2017 Blueberry Festival!
