Speedway Racetrack here in Plymouth is having their very own special “Monster Truck Throwdown!” On Saturday, September 23rd, the pit party will take place from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM and the show will follow at 7:00 PM! On Sunday, September 25th, the pit party is from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM and the show will follow at 2:00 PM! The adults presale is $20 and the kids presale is $10. If you show up the day of, adults will be $25 and the kids will be $15. The Playground of Power is located on 11631 12th Road in Plymouth, IN! This Sunday, September 24th, there is an “Anything but Plain Weave” event going on from 9:30 AM until 3:00 PM! This is an opportunity for new or experienced weavers ready to experiment with color and weave structure. Participants explore the illusion of a complex design using more than two colors in the log cabin weave structure, then create unique fabric by direct contrast, echoing, or shading the threaded pattern. Samplers can be used as framed pieces or crafted into small useful projects. The studio will be open during the week to practice skills and keep on schedule with the project before the second and third sessions are held. Direction and instruction will be given every step of the way to accomplish the goal. Loom rental, instruction, handouts, all tools and supplies are included in the cost. Be sure to get out to all the farmers markets in Marshall County that are open on Saturday mornings! The last weekend is the first week in October. The locations on Saturdays are Plymouth, Culver and Bourbon. The Plymouth Farmers' Market is a collaborative effort between growers, community organizations, and the city government organized to: Give local growers and producers of agricultural commodities alternative marketing opportunities. Encourage environmentally sound and sustainable agriculture practices and access to local health foods. Provide educational opportunities for producers to test and refine their products and marketing skills. Enhance the quality of the life in the Marshall County area by providing a community activity which fosters social gathering and interaction and contributes to a vibrant downtown Plymouth. Teach consumers about the taste and health benefits of eating fresh locally grown food. Provide increased access to healthy locally grown food by low income, minority, and at-risk populations. Provide a vehicle to achieve a friendlier, more united community and stronger sense of neighborhood, and a positive community image. Plymouths Farmers Market is located at the corner of Garros and Rivers streets in Plymouth and they are open from 7:30 AM until 11:30 AM. Culvers Farmers Market is bursting with local goodness every Saturday 9 AM until 1 PM. Stroll through and visit with our local vendors while stocking up on early fall produce. It’s perfect for eating now or canning for later! Bourbons Farmers Market is open from 9 AM until noon and is located on the Corner of West Center and 3rd streets (the old Dairy Queen parking lot). This weekend on Saturday, September 23rd, there will be a Tails on Trails 5k Dog Walk going on. This will take place from 8:30 AM until 1:30 PM at Potawatomi Wildlife Park in Tippecanoe Indiana. Come out and bring your best 4 legged buddy to walk on the trails of Potawatomi Wildlife Park and support Military Working Dog Teams. It is $15 for you and your pup to enjoy a peaceful walk and check out the early fall colors. All money raised goes directly to help MWDTSA with their quarterly support boxes for deployed Military Working Dog Teams. The organization, Military Working Dog Team Support Association, Inc., (MWDTSA) was formed in Georgia in 2006 by Dixie Whitman and LTC Ken Besecker USA (Ret.). It was designed to coordinate, channel and encourage support from individuals, organizations and businesses to benefit active duty and retired U.S. military working dogs and handlers. MWDTSA provides a dedicated, innovative and responsive conduit to its donors that has for over 10 years delivered critical goods and services that fulfill the deployment needs of military dogs and their handlers.
